Uncommon Hospitality, Uncommon Generosity

As we move forward with the Uncommon Hospitality, Uncommon Generosity Campaign, we find ourselves looking at our history…our foundation. We have a solid legacy that has created a mission-focused, service-minded congregation. Take a moment to look faithfully and critically at the future of Grace. Where is God leading us? After these improvements are made to our building, imagine how our uncommon hospitality will blossom. Instead of continuing to try to “make do” with facilities that were designed almost a century ago, we will be able to address the modern day challenges within our community.

The goals for this project are focused on making all parts of the building safe, accessible, and comfortable. Improving the functionality and flexibility of the building will greatly enhance our current and future ministry activities. And while our building has stunning architecture throughout there are a number of safety issues that need to be addressed. We are committed to preserving the beauty and architectural style of the building while also creating a safe and inviting space for all. Sound upgrades in the sanctuary will provide a better worship experience for everyone.

BUILDING UPGRADES:

  • Address safety and code requirements including emergency exits, upgrade water and electrical services
  • Free Clinic exam rooms accessible
  • New accessible restrooms in basement
  • Elevator in Education Wing
  • Sound upgrades in sanctuary

WHY ARE WE STARTING A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NOW?
Grace is at a point where anything beyond basic cosmetic changes would require us to meet current building and safety codes. There is more than enough space in our building, but not all of that space is useable, especially because of the inaccessibility of the education building. In order to continue our ministry these building changes are needed. None of these changes will be cheaper or easier to do in the future.

WHEN WILL CONSTRUCTION START?
The capital campaign is scheduled to end in May 2017. If we stay on that schedule we anticipate starting construction in January 2018.

HOW MUCH WILL THE CONSTRUCTION COST?
Current estimates are $1.4 million.

WHY WERE THESE PROJECTS SELECTED?
These are the projects that positively affect the most people. We have additional projects that were considered but have been put in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the project. The projects in these phases will only be possible after we complete this first phase.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN?
First and foremost, please pray for this campaign. Ask God how you are to participate. Ask God to give you inspirational ideas for coming up with ways to help. Read scripture. Consider what it means to be a “sacrificial giver”.

WILL I BE REQUIRED TO MAKE A PLEDGE?
No. Participation in this campaign and how much you give will be entirely up to you.

HOW LONG WILL MY COMMITMENT BE?
We are asking you to make a three-year commitment.

I CAN’T GIVE A LARGE AMOUNT, SO DOES MY PLEDGE REALLY MATTER?

Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount. God multiplies our giving.

FINAL DECISION ON PARTICIPATING?

Pledge cards will be turned in on Commitment Sunday, which is May 21.

WHAT FORMS OF CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED?
Contributions can be made by check or cash. Other forms of contributions can include transfer of stock, bonds, etc.

MAY I CHANGE MY COMMITMENT AFTER CELEBRATION SUNDAY?
Of course. Commitments may be updated at anytime.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A CHURCH MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN?
No. Participating in the campaign is a personal decision and anyone who wishes to see us
fulfill our mission may contribute.

WHO WILL KNOW HOW MUCH I CONTRIBUTE?
This information will only be available to those who need to know it and will be held in the strictest confidence.
